CV – dr. Darko Božić

Dr. Darko Božić, DMD, MSc, PhD is an Assistant professor at the Department of Periodontology, School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia.

He graduated from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia in 2000, and in 2005 finished his postgraduate training in periodontology.
Since 2006 his main research focus is how to use growth factors to restore lost periodontal tissues with a special emphasis on cementoblast biology and BMP-7. He and the research team he has worked with have done proteomic and next generation sequencing analysis of BMP-7 treated cementoblasts with the aim of developing new regenerative strategies. He has received his PhD degree in 2010 with the topic “Gene expression analysis in BMP-7 treated cementoblasts”.

Currently he is conducting proteomic analysis of periodontal tissues of patients with aggressive and chronic periodontitis.

His main clinical focus is regenerative and periodontal plastic surgery around teeth and implants, with a special emphasis on hard and soft tissue regeneration in patients with periodontitis.

He frequently gives courses and workshops both at home and internationally about the microsurgical approaches in implant, regenerative and periodontal plastic surgery.

He is the Vice-president of the Croatian Society of Periodontology and delegate to the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). He is also a member of the IADR.
